Unveiling the Gold-Winning Straddle Tractor Concept by New Holland and Pininfarina

The German Design Award 2023 competition awarded New Holland's Straddle Tractor Concept a gold prize in the 'Excellent Product Design' category. The Straddle Tractor Concept is a collaboration between New Holland Agriculture and Pininfarina, the world-renowned design house. The idea tractor was specifically created to fulfill the demanding needs of narrow vineyards.

Pininfarina created a future design based on a high-comfort, high-safety cab that is ready for electric traction in accordance with New Holland's Clean Energy Leader plan. The face of the machine is designed to combine utility and style.

Designed for Narrow Vineyards - Where Form Meets Function in Excellence

Inspired by the shape of a champagne flute - tall, wide at the top, and tapering down at the bottom - it pays homage to the premium wine growers who are its primary customers.

This form, along with wraparound glass, gives the operator excellent view on the vines and all around. The fluid and powerful automotive-inspired lines make the whole external design stand out. The exposed frame lends an athletic appearance. The cab's tilted design contributes to the vehicle's liveliness.

The inside has a wide single door and rotating seat, and the use of wood adds to the cab's soft, luxury feel, reminiscent of wine barrels.

The idea was created to be ready for electric traction in a future of machines powered by alternative sources. New Holland did not offer specifications. A joystick and several buttons are also used to control most of the operation.
